Home-Academy Partnership

At Hamford Academy, we recognise the importance of developing and maintaining the link between Home and Academy, to involve parent/carers as much as possible in the learning partnership, and to ensure that each child receives the best educational experience.

We aim to be a welcoming Academy and have regular 'Open Door' sessions when you are invited into your child's class to share the learning process that has been taking place

Newsletters and letters are sent out weekly to keep parents updated with events within the Academy.

Parents are invited to learning conferences, a meeting involving the parent/carer, pupil and teacher to discuss the pupil's progress during the first two terms. During the Summer Term, the class teacher writes an end of year report to parents highlighting strengths , weaknesses, and areas for development with targets for improvement. A brief questionnaire accompanies each child's report which it is hoped parents will complete and return to us, which in turn will help us to improve our reporting and communication with parents.

We value the contribution that parent helpers make. You could help by:

  • Hearing children read
  • Assisting with computer work
  • Supporting children in Art, Craft, or Cooking Activities
  • Maintaining the various projects being run by various classes
  • If you have a particular area of expertise, helping out within the Academy or with an after academy club!

Any parents wishing to give such help should make contact initially with the Academy office to book a brief meeting with the Principal.

It is a legal requirement that any volunteer who would like to accompany children on an educational visit or support the children in the Academy must have a DBS check before commencing in school. This check will be carried out during our volunteer induction process.
